Pictures Of Decay

These were among over a hundred photographs taken on 21st December 2011. I’m currently taking a course in digital photography – and obviously, I’m a novice with cameras. These were all snapped around Sammy’s Point, Hull – home of The Deep, which is one of the city’s more glamorous attractions.

However, it is located next to the river Humber, in the middle of an industrial heartland – rich with images of time’s passage: be it the decaying buildings no longer frequented by people, and falling apart; or the consequences of nature’s force upon otherwise mundane objects:

Despite being frequently beset by the stormy coastal elements, today was an extremely drab, misty December day. But what I’ve tried to capture here are some surprisingly vivid and colourful aspects of the past, future, and present finding an expression:
